The Alliance for Better Health Access works to advance high-quality, equitable health care access nationwide by removing barriers to NP care and strengthening patient choice in the selection of a health care provider. As our nation continues to face significant shortages of health care providers, NPs represent 355,000 solutions to better health access for all.

Patients turn to NPs for primary, acute, specialty and long-term care across every health care setting in more than 1 billion patient visits each year. As clinicians who blend clinical expertise in diagnosing and treating health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention, NPs bring a comprehensive perspective to health care. Utilizing NPs to the fullest extent of their education and clinical training is critical to meeting the nation’s health care needs and combating chronic disease, increasing health care costs and rising health care disparities in rural areas.
